FIELD: performing operations.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in formation of metal coatings by contact welding of steel filler wires. Before welding, the steel filler wire is given a flat wavy shape. Recommended width of the wave additive is 0.8-0.9 of the width of the working surface of the tool – roller-electrode, the wave pitch is 3-4 of the wire diameter. Prepared wavy additive is pressed to part surface to be reconditioned by roller-electrode and rolled at simultaneous supply of welding current pulses in combination with welding force. Welding mode is selected based on condition of formation of solid uniform metal coating of uniform thickness on worn-out surface.
EFFECT: due to equality of width of formed weld seam width of working surface of roller-electrode provides increased efficiency of metal coating formation process by 1.5-1.8 times, wherein working tool durability is 2-2.5 times higher than that at reduction by conventional process.
