FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to occupational hygiene, occupational pathology, and can be used to predict the risk of developing cerebral vasospasm in workers with high physical activity. Transcranial duplex scanning of cerebral vessels is carried out, values of peak systolic blood flow velocity (Vps) in middle cerebral artery (MCA) and internal carotid artery (ICA) are determined. Lindegaard index is calculated as the ratio of Vps in the MCA to Vps in the ICA. If the Lindegaard index is less than 1.3 and Vps in the MCA is less than 80 cm/s, the absence of a risk of developing cerebral vasospasm is predicted. If the Lindegaard index is 1.3-2 and Vps in MCA is 80-120 cm/s, a low risk of cerebral vasospasm is predicted. If the Lindegaard index is 2.1-3 and Vps in MCA is 121-160 cm/s, the average risk of developing cerebral vasospasm is predicted. If the Lindegaard index is more than 3 and Vps in the MCA is more than 160 cm/s, a high risk of cerebral vasospasm is predicted.

EFFECT: method provides more accurate prediction of the risk of developing cerebral vasospasm by assessing blood flow in the cerebral vessels.
