FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to otorhinolaryngology, and enables to predict a degree of risk of intraoperative haemorrhage accompanying tonsillectomy. Depth of palatine tonsil (DPT) is measured on the basis of transverse ultrasonic dimension of palatine tonsil and size of visible part of palatine tonsil, measured with medical spatula. Vascularization of the palatine tonsil (VPT) is assessed by colour Doppler mapping. Derived values of the DPT and VPT are scored. Derived total score is used to assess the risk of bleeding. Calculation is performed for each palatine tonsil separately.

EFFECT: method enables to reliably predict a degree of risk of developing intraoperative bleeding, to select the optimal technique of tonsillectomy and reduce the risk of complications after the surgical intervention by determining the depth of palatine tonsils (PT) and assessing the vascularization of the PT using Doppler colour imaging.
