FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to otorhinolaryngology, and can be used for laser tonsillectomy. It involves contact laser excision of palatine tonsil with semiconductor laser at wave length 970 nm in continuous mode. If laser radiation power is 7.0 Wt, the mucous membrane is incised in contact along the anterior pillar of fauces with transition to the fold between the anterior and posterior pillars of fauces and then downwards along the posterior pillar of fauces. Then palatine tonsil is pulled back by means of a clamp medially. Strained adhesions and adhesions of the palatine tonsil capsule with the amygdaloid recess are pricked out with contacting by line-by-line motions directed to the tonsil capsule. Palatine tonsil is completely dissected away from the pharynx lateral wall.

EFFECT: method provides formation of a virtually dry surgical area, does not require changing a surgical instrument and changing laser power during tonsillectomy, reduces frequency of use of the cauter, reduces the risk of post-tonsillectomy haemorrhage and relieves pain syndrome in the postoperative period, reduces length of surgical intervention and length of rehabilitation.
