SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a system for measuring the level of a fluid medium contained in a high-pressure vessel, wherein the high-pressure vessel is part of the equipment of a urea synthesis plant or a melamine synthesis plant. Disclosed method of measuring level (L) of fluid contained in high-pressure vessel (2) includes the following steps: providing thermometric well (10) inside high-pressure vessel; heating the inner surface of the thermometric well, which is not in contact with the fluid medium; measuring temperature of at least one measurement point on the inner surface; determining the position of the liquid level based on the difference between the temperature used as a reference point and the temperature measured as described above.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurements when working in an aggressive environment and/or under harsh operating conditions, in particular in the presence of fluid in a supercritical state or in a state close to supercritical.
