FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention is applicable in the field of urea synthesis equipment. System for measuring the level of liquid in a pressure vessel of a urea synthesis plant includes an emitter, an elongated solid rod waveguide and a receiver. Emitter is located above the liquid level and is configured to transmit the first electromagnetic signal along the elongated rod waveguide in the direction of the liquid level. Receiver is configured to detect a second electromagnetic signal formed when the first signal is reflected from the surface of the liquid. System provides output of liquid level measurement result, determined by difference in time of transmission of first signal by emitter and time of detection of second signal by receiver, and the vessel is configured to operate at a pressure equal to or greater than 80 bar abs., and a temperature equal to or greater than 120°C, and the rod waveguide contains at least one source of reference reflection for calculating the actual speed of the signal in the gas phase above the liquid level.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of measurements in presence of close to critical or supercritical fluid medium above liquid surface.
