FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing dry powders of low molecular weight poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone with average molecular weight (8,000–12,600) ± 2,000 Da with permissible content of N-vinylpyrrolidone impurities, 2-pyrrolidone, hydrazine and peroxide compounds, involving polymerisation of N-vinylpyrrolidone in an aqueous solution in the presence of ammonia solution, hydrogen peroxide, copper dichloride and sodium pyrophosphate at temperature of (70–75) °C, subsequent removal of water from the solution on a spray drier to obtain a dry powder of low-molecular weight poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone, mixing the dry powder of low-molecular weight poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone in a vacuum at high temperature, mixing dry powder of low-molecular weight poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone in an inert gas atmosphere at high temperature and subsequent cooling, wherein mixing of dry powder of low-molecular weight poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone in vacuum is carried out at temperature of (85–95) °C for 3–5 hours, mixing dry powder of low-molecular weight poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone in an inert gas atmosphere - at temperature of (90–105) °C for 3–5 hours, and subsequent cooling is carried out to temperature of (20–25) °C.
EFFECT: obtaining dry powder of low molecular weight poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone with average molecular weight (8,000–12,600) ± 2,000 Da with permissible content of impurities of N-vinylpyrrolidone, 2-pyrrolidone, hydrazine and peroxide compounds.
