FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: described is a method for determining the presence of bacteria in a biological sample that promotes plant growth, comprising: (a) selecting nitrogen-fixing bacteria on a nitrogen-free medium; (b) primary screening of bacteria promoting plant growth using a medium for assessing a defined activity selected from a group: for assessing phosphate-solubilizing activity, potassium-solubilising activity, siderophore-producing activity, cellulolytic activity, pectinase activity, chitinase activity; (c) obtaining a pure culture; (d) secondary screening of bacteria by PCR for sequences of genes, products of which are involved in realization of bacteria traits for plant growth.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to quickly and easily screen a large number of soil bacteria for a combination of properties useful for plants, in order to further create microbiological consortia used in agriculture to increase plant productivity.
