FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electromagnet based on superconductors, having one or more channels, and can be used in plasma chambers, such as chambers used in thermonuclear reactors based on tokamak, in the central column of a toroidal field coil. Each channel has a conducting element provided in it, which contains one or more layers of superconducting material for conducting electric current along the channel axis. Conductive element is configured to touch the side walls of the channel by means of first and second skewed surfaces, which are inclined relative to each other, so that a force displacing the conductive element in a direction perpendicular to the axis, creates opposite contact forces on skewed surfaces, which act to compress the conducting element in the direction with the component perpendicular to the specified force.
EFFECT: preventing deformation of the central column and degradation of superconducting materials.
