FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry, specifically to quantitative determination of trace amounts of water in various organic compounds (organic solvents, compounds for organic synthesis, reaction mixtures, and so forth) in order to determine their purity and suitability for solving various practical problems, when water content is a critical parameter of product quality. Disclosed is a sorbent which is a microporous crystalline aluminosilicate with a faujasite structure in a form saturated with sodium cations, with a ratio of Si/Al = 1.228, with a surface area of 200 m2/g to 1200 m2/g, an average particle size of 1.5 mcm to 20 mcm and a pore diameter of 0.3 nm to 1.2 nm, for determining trace amounts of water in organic compounds by HPLC. Also disclosed is a method for determining trace amounts of water by HPLC using the disclosed sorbent.
EFFECT: creation of a direct method for quantitative determination of water trace elements, which is characterized by simple optimization of determination conditions, minimum sample preparation, expressiveness, high selectivity, possibility of analyzing non-volatile, sufficiently viscous and polar compounds, stability of the stationary phase, a wide range of linearity of the calibration curve and good reproducibility.
