FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to real-time analysis of moving suspensions for industrial processes, where suspensions of solid particles suspended in liquids are transported through a pipe. Disclosed is an apparatus for analysing a moving suspension of solid particles in a liquid medium, which comprises: providing a flow of a suspension with fully developed turbulence in the vertical pipe so that the flowing suspension fills the entire cross section of the pipe; providing a transparent window in the wall of the pipe, wherein said window is flush with the inside of the pipe; emitting light from the light source through the window onto the flowing suspension inside the pipe in the inspection zone; conducting a plurality of separate measurements of individual solid particles in the flowing suspension by collecting light returned from the inspection area; comparison of results of statistically significant number of separate measurements with provision of characteristics of current suspension as a whole.
EFFECT: possibility of providing real-time information on the content of the mass of the process flow in the form of a suspension flowing in a pipe.
