FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of measuring range under water relates to the field of radio equipment for measuring distances and can be used, for example, for measuring short distances in local navigation systems when controlling movement of underwater objects. Novelty in the method of measuring range is simultaneous generation of two continuous oscillations with two different frequencies, which are summed up and supplied simultaneously to the input of the transmitting frame magnetic antenna and to the input of the transmitting acoustic transducer. At the output of the receiving frame magnetic antenna, two narrow-band filters are installed, which separate oscillations separately, each oscillation with its own of the above frequencies. Same filters are installed at the output of the receiving acoustic transducer, where oscillations are also selected separately from the above frequencies. Thereafter, phase difference between oscillations with identical frequencies is measured in pairs, and the phase difference between these previously measured phase differences is determined, from which the range is actually determined. Simultaneous emission and reception of oscillations with different frequencies will allow not to take into account time-varying interference pattern at the point of receiving acoustic vibrations, caused by reflection of acoustic vibrations from a water surface, on which there is usually excitement, which varies in time.
EFFECT: time for processing measurement results is reduced, which also significantly improves characteristics of the range determination process.
