FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is an arc load DC source consisting of a high-frequency PWM converter, a transformer, a rectifier and a smoothing reactor, wherein the smoothing reactor further comprises a low voltage winding connected through a normally closed transistor to a low-power low-voltage direct current source, which enables to accumulate electromagnetic energy in the reactor; RCD circuit is connected in parallel to the transistor, the input of which is connected to the transistor PWM converter rectifier, as a result, after opening of the low-voltage winding circuit with the help of the said transistor, a high-voltage pulse is generated on the working winding of the reactor, which ignites the arc in the plasmatron, and a standby arc current is created, which provides inertia-free pickup of the arc.
EFFECT: increasing reliability and stability of operation.
