FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control and measurement equipment and can be used to measure thickness of movable sheet products of any kind, in particular flexible and pile, for automation of processes of control and sorting of chipboards, veneers, and similar sheet products. Disclosed device takes into account the effect of longitudinal and transverse distortions and inclinations of the measured article and makes an allowance for them when calculating the thickness of the article. Calibration module available in the device provides determination of coordinates of sensors and, in case of their displacement, introduction of correction coefficients taking into account actual displacement when calculating thickness of the article. Delivered technical result is achieved by the fact that the proposed device consists of a reading module and a computing centre, which includes units, due to synchronous measurement of coordinates of points of upper and lower surfaces of the measured sheet, it allows calculating the lines of its cross section at each moment of measurement and determining the thickness taking into account skews and inclinations of the measured item.

EFFECT: possibility of accurate measurement of thickness, for example, of wood veneer, thin-sheet metals.
