FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to optical analysis methods. Disclosed is a method for determining the antioxidant capacity of a solution by an optical method using a paper sensor located in a plastic housing, on which a reagent containing an oxidised form of a metal in a complex compound is applied, and an analysis object, evaluation of the antioxidant capacity is carried out by comparing the colour intensity of the paper sensor after the reaction between the antioxidants of the analysed object and the reagent with the colour of the calibration strip, which is a scale of dependence of the degree of colour of the sensor on the concentration of the added model antioxidant, and delimited into concentration ranges, corresponding to low CAO<1⋅10-4 M, average CAO=1⋅10-4-1⋅10-3 M and high antioxidant content CAO>1⋅10-3 M, wherein the reagent used is a complex of the oxidised form of the metal with bipyridine derivatives dissolved in an organic solvent or mixtures of organic solvents.

EFFECT: invention provides obtaining reliable qualitative and quantitative information on antioxidant capacity of various objects using an optical method.
