FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction, maintenance and/or repair of pipelines using external protection against mechanical damages in the form of a shell. Pipeline protective shell includes links of cylindrical shape from dense damping material, tightly covering from outside the pipeline and installed end-to-end. Links are made as assembled, consisting of two identical halves, during mechanical connection inside the cylindrical surface, coaxial to the outer surface and equal to the outer diameter of the pipeline. Halves are made from foamed polystyrene with density of 20-40 kg/m3 and thickness of 50-100 mm. Mechanical connection of the halves is made in the form of clamps covering the halves at the ends of the links and/or at least one clamp for each 0.80-1.1 m of the link.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to install the shell, service and repair the pipeline with the least time and material costs due to the assembled structure of the shell links consisting of identical halves, which are mechanically connected to each other with clamps.
