FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and can be used for photometric determination of silver cations in aqueous solutions. Method for photometric determination of silver cations in an aqueous solution involves preparing a solution of a colour reagent, carrying out a photometric reaction when it is added to the analysed solution, measuring optical density of the reaction mixture, based on which concentration of silver cations is calculated. Colour reagent used is a sodium sulphide solution, into which a sodium silicate solution is added as a stabilizer. Optical density is measured at 430 nm.
EFFECT: rapid method of determining concentration of silver ions with good accuracy without using expensive reagents.
