SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and concerns methods for determining the concentration of glucose in aqueous solutions using copper(II) compounds. When determining, a reaction mixture is prepared containing a solution of copper (II) sulfate, ethylenedamine, nitrated humic acids and glucose. Then the mixture is heated for a predetermined time, the reaction mixture is cooled after completion of the reaction, brought to a predetermined volume with distilled water, and the optical density of the solution is determined. The glucose concentration is calculated from a pre-built calibration curve.

EFFECT: simplification of the procedure for performing the photometric method for Somogyi-Nelson to determine the concentration of glucose.
