FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to urology and oncology. Prostate gland is examined and its volume is determined. Magnetic resonance imaging of the small pelvis with intravenous contrast enhancement is performed, and the volume of the transient zone of the prostate is additionally determined. Then the ratio of the total volume of the prostate gland to the volume of its transient zone is calculated. If the ratio is from 1.2 to 1.43, transurethral thulium laser enucleation of the prostate is recommended, and if the ratio is from 1.63 to 2.4, bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate is recommended.
EFFECT: method enables reducing intra- and postoperative complications, as well as accelerating rehabilitation of patients by enabling selection of the optimal method of surgical treatment.
