FIELD: performing operations.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of processing polymer materials by fast Joule heating and can be used, in particular, to obtain graphene-containing products from plastic wastes. Disclosed is a method for synthesis of nanographite flakes from polypropylene or polyethylene terephthalate by Joule heating. For synthesis, a device is used, which includes a discharge unit with a capacitor battery and a control unit with a relay, a sealed reactor chamber with a thermal shock cover, connected to a vacuum pump and comprising a detachable hollow quartz tube held in a holder made of dielectric material, by means of side rods connected to the mains and contacting with internal electrodes of the tube. Polymer raw material preliminarily crushed into powder is mixed with conducting material to create an electroconductive mixture; a weighed portion of the obtained mixture is placed inside a quartz tube and closed on both sides with internal electrodes. Tube with raw material is placed and fixed to the holder body in the reactor chamber by means of side rods, simultaneously pressing raw material with electrodes in the tube, thereafter, vacuum is created inside the chamber at pressure of up to 0.3 bar and discharge to electrodes of the quartz tube from the capacitor unit for not more than 32 ms at power consumption of 4.0-6.8 kJ/g.
EFFECT: proposed invention enables to obtain graphene products at relatively low power consumption and in the shortest possible time.
