SUBSTANCE: invention relates to glass industry, more specifically to workpiece of narrow-necked glass article and to narrow-necked glass article made from said workpiece, and can be used for bottling, storage and transportation of various beverages. Workpiece of a narrow-necked glass article consists of a neck, a bottom part, a housing connected to the neck and a bottom part. Workpiece housing is made in the form of a body of revolution of a geometric figure, which is limited by a wavy curve having extrema, wherein the thickness of the walls of the workpiece housing is made variable so that housing wall thickness increases from wavy curve minimum to wavy curve maximum, and thickness of the walls of the housing in the maximum of the wavy curve is 8-50% more than the thickness of the walls of the housing in the minimum of the wavy curve. Also described is a narrow-necked glass article made from said workpiece and consisting of connected neck, shoulders, cylindrical housing, bottom part, wherein the wall thickness of the article is variable so that ratio of maximum wall thickness to minimum wall thickness is not more than 2.5.

EFFECT: reducing the weight of the narrow-necked glass product while maintaining its strength.
