FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to colorimetric sensors for detecting bacteria and/or viruses. Colorimetric sensor comprises: a plurality of layers having a photonic crystal structure; a functional layer comprising a nanomaterial configured to generate a surface plasmon which is biologically sensitive to bacteria and/or viruses and overlapping layers having a photonic crystal structure; receptor layer containing protein substances or antibodies acting as viral receptors. Colorimetric sensor comprises: a functional layer comprising a nanomaterial configured to generate a surface plasmon which is biologically sensitive to bacteria and/or viruses; receptor layer containing protein substances or antibodies acting as viral receptors; plasmon nanostructured layer containing etched nanostructures for generation of plasmon colors. Functional layer and the receptor layer overlap each other and are in direct contact with each other.

EFFECT: sensors enable accurate detection of a specific contaminant, particularly specific bacteria and/or viruses.
