FIELD: food industry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a drinking straw comprising an elongated tubular body made from an insoluble material having an inner coating containing a matrix and one or more active agents which are dispersed throughout the matrix. Said housing is sized to draw carrier fluid there through so that passage of said carrier fluid results in release from the matrix of said one or more active agents into said carrier fluid to be consumed by the drinker. Matrix contains 65–80% of partially hydrolysed guar gum (PHGG), 15–30% of acid and 3–10% of modified cellulose.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain an alternative drinking straw which contains a material which dissolves in a liquid drawn through the straw during use.
