FIELD: accelerating equipment engineering, possible use for producing high energy beams of heavy particles and streams of secondary nuclear particles.
SUBSTANCE: claimed invention differs from known technical solutions, because after settling of stationary mode in accelerating structures with alternating longitudinal size of cells ion mono-impulses are injected. Accelerating structures of low energy part of accelerator are excited from amplifiers of meter or long-decimeter wave length range, and accelerating structures of high energy part of accelerator are excited from amplifiers of short-decimeter or centimeter range of wave lengths at multiple frequencies, while high frequency amplifiers are phased by setting generator. Current is controlled by changing the number of ions in mono-bunch during injection.
EFFECT: possible control over number of particles accelerated in a bunch in form of mono-impulse, control over duration of intervals between these mono-impulses, and also simplified system of high frequency power of accelerator.
