FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing silica airgel by a sol-gel method, wherein a lyogel is first obtained from the sol, and the lyogel is then converted to an airgel, where (a) at a first step, a sol is provided in the form of a solution or dispersion of a precursor, where the solvent or dispersion medium is water and the sol has a pH greater than 7, (b) in a second step following the first, the sol is introduced in the form of drops into a device under pressure of more than 30 bar (3 MPa) and containing compressed carbon dioxide, where formation of gel is initiated by displacement of pH of sol due to use of compressed carbon dioxide, so that lyogel particles are formed, and (c) in the third step following the second step, the solvent is replaced.
EFFECT: present invention provides the development of a method for producing aerogel particles, which can be performed with significantly reduced duration of the technological process, and preferably in a continuous or quasi-continuous mode, where during the method aerogels are obtained with certain properties, in particular, also with a certain external shape and defined particle sizes.
