SUBSTANCE: invention relates to insulating composite materials comprising inorganic aerogel and a melamine foam, method for their making and using. Composite material comprises a panel of monolithic inorganic aerogel reinforced with a preformed melamine foam with open cells, the material has a thermal conductivity λ between 10 and 20 mW / (m⋅K), measured in accordance with the method of protective hot plates NF EN 12667 at 20 °C and at atmospheric pressure, and has a macroporosity of less than 5 %, wherein the monolithic inorganic aerogel does not contain any binder and has a continuous three-dimensional porous structure.

EFFECT: composite material can be used as a thermal insulating or soundproof material.
