FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in oil refining, petrochemical, chemical and food industries for purification of water from oil, separation of mixtures of oil products and oils with water. Disclosed is a sorbent based on cotton fabric modified with 3 wt.% solution of a copolymer of glycidyl methacrylate with 2,2,3,3,4,4,4-heptafluorobutyl methacrylate and stearyl methacrylate in methyl ethyl ketone.
EFFECT: invention reduces moisture absorption of cotton fabric by increasing hydrophobic and oleophilic properties while maintaining sorption capacity with respect to oil.
