FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to cardiology, pulmonology, and can be used to determine respiratory muscle weakness in middle-aged and elderly people without pulmonary diseases. Method consists in determining the functional state of skeletal muscles. Patient performs wrist dynamometry on both hands. Best result out of three attempts is recorded. If the best value in males is less than 30.5 daN, and in females, less than 21.5 daN, respiratory muscle weakness is stated.
EFFECT: method is simple; it enables detecting respiratory muscle weakness and, if necessary, directing the patient for in-depth diagnostics and rehabilitation measures.
