FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: surface electromyogram (SEMG) is registered from the respiratory muscles with expiratory force. The value of the initial load is determined as the average value of average expiratory pressure (MEPav) at a maximum deep inspiration and maximum deep expiration. The individual load is calculated, which is 30% of MEPav; at the time of SEMG recording from the respiratory muscles, the average value of the MEPav (a) amplitude is determined upon initial load presentation. The average value of the SEMG amplitude (b) is then determined for an individual load. The respiratory muscle efficiency index (EI) is calculated as the ratio of the difference in the values of the SEMG amplitude at initial and average loads to the ratio of the mean amplitude to 30. At EI value greater than 70, a conclusion is made about low efficiency of the respiratory muscles. At EI value less than 70, the efficiency of the respiratory muscles is assessed as high.
EFFECT: method allows to increase the reliability of respiratory muscles performance assessment, which is achieved through definition of the above parameters of the surface electromyogram and efficiency calculation.
