FIELD: water treatment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of treating water. Method of treating water involves laser ablation of a target immersed in water, wherein ablation is carried out with a laser beam modulated by a programmable signal control unit with a linear modulation frequency in range of 5 Hz to 20 KHz, with variable wavelength in range of 380 nm to 565 nm and energy density in range of 2-5 J/mm2. Process is carried out for a period of time until the growth of water saturation with particles of the target material ceases. Ablation is performed for 5 to 30 minutes. Laser power ranges from 200 mW to 5 W. Target is immersed in water to depth of 5 to 15 cm. Laser beam is directed to target through beam expander. Distance between laser expander lens to water surface is 12-25 cm. Target is made of metal, and the target size is 10 mm * 25 mm * 0.5 mm.

EFFECT: proposed method of water treatment provides for simplification of water saturation with particles from targets, including microelements, reduction of particle size, reduction of energy consumption.
