SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and a system for adjusting at least one visual characteristic of light in an aerosol-generating device and/or a charging device, to a machine-readable data medium for such a system and to use of a timer for controlling the visual characteristic of at least one light emitter unit of the aerosol-generating device and/or a charging device. System for adjusting at least one visual characteristic of light in an aerosol generating device configured to interact with a tobacco stick and/or a charging device associated with the aerosol generating device, wherein the aerosol generating device and/or the charging device comprises at least one light emitter unit; a control module configured to adjust at least one visual characteristic of light emitted by the at least one light emitter unit based on the local time received from the timer; and a communication interface configured to communicate with the mobile terminal. Data contain commands for adjustment of at least one visual characteristic. System further comprises a mobile terminal configured to display a user interface for inputting commands. Commands include time setting, user interface contains the first element of user interface for input of time setting.
