SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is related to a smoking device with an authentication means, an aerosol generating system containing such a device, and a receiving device for the aerosol generating system. The aerosol generating system comprises an aerosol generating device configured to generate an aerosol, wherein the aerosol generating device has a locked state in which generation of aerosol by the aerosol generating device is prohibited, and an unlocked state in which generation of aerosol by the aerosol generating device is enabled, and a receiving device configured with the ability to at least partially receive the aerosol generating device. Each of the aerosol generating device and the receiving device includes a communication interface for communicating the aerosol generating device with the receiving device, wherein the receiving device includes a control device with at least one biometric sensor configured to authenticate a user of the aerosol generating system based on detection of at least one biometric sign of the user. The control device is configured to transmit an authentication signal to the aerosol generating device to place the aerosol generating device in a locked state or an unlocked state, wherein the authentication signal indicates successful or unsuccessful authentication of the user to the receiving device.
EFFECT: security of using the aerosol generating system is improved by providing additional authentication required after the device has been locked after one or more predetermined locking conditions have passed.
