FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for generating, supplying and dispensing a programmed dose from a beam of charged particles or ionizing radiation by focusing, decelerating, regulating diaphragms, shutters or interrupters and can be used in routine radiation therapy and flash therapy. Proton beam chopper comprises housing with passage for proton beam passage and linear motor comprising stator and rotor. Rotor comprises two total absorption targets (TAT) from a combination of structural carbon (12C) unit, foil lead (207Pb) and a unit of borated polyethylene (hydrogen 1H and boron 10B), made with possibility of complete absorption of the proton beam. Between rotor and stator there is an opening for passage of proton beam. Rotor is made with possibility of reciprocating movement for successive alignment of the housing passage, closed in ~5 milliseconds or more, one of two rotor TATs, as well as with the possibility in the de-energized state of the linear engine to roll down into the extreme stable position, in which one of the two TATs is combined with the passage of the proton beam in the housing.
EFFECT: high safety and high rate of shutting off the passage for the proton beam.
