FIELD: biotechnology; animal breeding.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method for assessing reproductive properties of pigs of large white breed, determined by the number of piglets at birth and weight of piglets at birth, based on SNP variants in ADGRD1 and AIG1 genes. This method can be used to predict reproductive properties of large white pigs, which enables to select animals genetically predisposed to high reproductive qualities in order to further use the obtained data in selection. Method is based on determining the genotype GG/AIG1 associated with a large number of piglets at birth, and the genotype GG/ADGRD1 associated with a greater weight of piglets at birth.
EFFECT: disclosed method is characterized by adaptability to real-time PCR method, low labour costs and high efficiency.
