SUBSTANCE: invention relates to physics of surfaces, namely to visual assessment of the quality of the inner surface of hollow ceramic articles, and can be used to detect surface and subsurface defects in the material of the article. Disclosed method of surface preparation for visual-optical inspection of the inner surface of articles made from quartz ceramics involves detection of surface and subsurface defects of an article impregnated with water and dried in air. Surface drying is carried out with the help of alternating air flow until gloss of water film disappears in yellow spectrum of light emission.

EFFECT: shorter time for visual inspection and high reliability of detecting surface and subsurface defects of the material on the inner surface of hollow ceramic articles.
