SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of fan engineering and, in particular, can be used in ventilation, heating systems and as an air flow generator, for example, in pneumatic systems of grain and seed cleaning machines. Counterflow transverse fan comprises a housing with an inlet hole and an outlet branch pipe and a flat wall separating them, equipped with a louver, an impeller installed in the housing, which is coupled, for example, along a logarithmic spiral with an inlet edge of the fan casing above the inlet opening, a straight wall is installed parallel to the separating flat wall and forming an inlet channel. Between the conjugation of the inlet edge of the fan housing and the straight wall of the inlet channel there is a connecting insert made, for example, in the form of an astroid truncated along the ribs lying on one axis, the truncation plane of which is congruent and lies on one straight line with the rectilinear wall. Free edge of astroid is directed to impeller of fan and makes 0.01…0.04 of the outer diameter D2 of the impeller, and the distance from the inlet edge of the fan housing and the free edge of the astroid corresponds to (0.47…0.5)D2. Behind the astroid rib on the rectilinear wall of the inlet channel of the fan there is a suction window with length of 1.5…1.7 of outer diameter D2 of impeller, in which relative to the impeller axis there are longitudinally located at equal distance from each other straight-line synchronously rotated by an angle α from 0 to 80 degrees of plane.

EFFECT: use of counter-flow transverse fan in two operating modes, the use of which is caused by different types of technological process, for example, grain and seed cleaning machines, which considerably expands functional capabilities of its application.
