METHOD FOR SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF PATIENTS WITH CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME Russian patent published in 2025 - IPC A61B17/00

Abstract RU 2838521 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to traumatology and orthopaedics, and can be used for treating patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. Ultrasound-controlled median nerve preparation is carried out to separate it from ligaments and tendons by introducing 5% dextrose into the carpal canal. Transverse linear skin incision 3 mm long is made in a projection of a proximal portion of the transverse ligament of the wrist. Bougie with linear marking on its surfaces is moved distally into the carpal canal. Ultrasound control is used to monitor the position of the bougie relative to the nerve and tendons, bringing it to the distal aortic arch with a mark of the depth of its insertion by the markings, and the bougie is removed. Ligament with a similar linear marking on its surfaces is brought into the wound to the depth measured by the bougie with a single-step ligamentotomy of the transverse carpal ligament. Ligamentot is removed and the dissection quality is monitored by ultrasound by inserting a bougie into the canal. After its removal, the wound is closed with a plaster.

EFFECT: method provides levelling of inflammation and stimulation of regenerative processes, allows avoiding unnecessary manipulations and possible damages of adjacent structures due to introduction of dextrose solution, ligament dissection.
