FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to pulmonology, and can be used for the prediction of achieving disease control in smoking patients with mild persistent bronchial asthma with cold airway hyperresponsiveness. Spirometry is used to measure forced expiratory volume in first second (FEV1) in % of proper values; induced sputum epithelial cell count (E) is counted in % of the total number of cellular elements in a sputum smear. A discriminant equation is used to determine a discriminant function D, the boundary value of which is equal to -91.28. If D is equal to or greater than a limit value of the discriminant function in a smoking patient with mild persistent bronchial asthma with cold airway hyperresponsiveness, an uncontrolled clinical course is predicted. If D is less than the limit value of the discriminant function in a smoking patient with mild persistent bronchial asthma with cold airway hyperresponsiveness, achieving the control of the disease is predicted.

EFFECT: using the presented method for prediction enables changing the therapeutic approach to the patients with reasonable grounds, optimizing the therapy and, in the case of predicting the failure to control the disease, correcting the anti-inflammatory drug therapy to achieve and preserve the BA control.
