SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an insertion device and a method for inserting a medical device into a user’s body tissue. Medical device can be specifically configured to detect at least one analyte in the physiological fluid of a user. Insertion device and method can be used in the field of continuous monitoring of an analyte in a physiological fluid of a user, in particular in the field of home care and in the field of professional care, for example, in hospitals. However, other applications are also possible. Insertion device for inserting a medical device into a user’s body tissue comprises a medical device; an insertion component configured to insert the medical device into body tissue; component retracting element for insertion; cover; guide bushing comprising at least one inclined guide; insert sleeve; and a resilient element. To insert the medical device, the cap, the retracting element of the insertion component and the insertion sleeve are movable relative to the guide sleeve from the distal position to the proximal position. Inclined guide of the guide bushing is configured to turn the retracting element of the insertion component relative to the guide bushing and the insertion bushing when the cover moves from its distal position to its proximal position. Cap is movable from its proximal position to its distal position, whereby the retracting element of the insertion component is moved from its proximal position to its distal position. Method of inserting a medical device into the body tissue of a user using at least one of the above insertion device involves inserting the medical device into the body tissue of the user by applying a force to the cap of the insertion device with movement of the insertion component, the cap, the retracting element of the insertion component and the insertion sleeve relative to the guide sleeve from the distal position to the proximal position and rotation of the retracting element of the insertion component relative to the guide bushing and the insertion bushing; and retracting the insertion component by releasing the force applied to the cap, moving the cap from its proximal position to its distal position and moving the retracting element of the component for insertion from its proximal position to its distal position.
EFFECT: insertion device provides safe and user-friendly handling of the insertion device, while providing reliable insertion of the medical device into the tissue of the user’s body.
