FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of foamed glass with radioprotective properties and can be used in the field of construction materials to produce plates and blocks from a porous material, characterized by high radioprotective properties in the microwave range, used for lining the internal rooms of cabinets in which high-frequency installations operate. Mixture for making foamed glass with radioprotective properties contains boron-containing iron-containing silicate glass, an activator and a gasifier. Vanadium oxide is used as an activator. Crude mixture for making foamed glass contains the following components, wt.%: boron-containing silicate glass 93.5-97, activator 1.5-6, gasifier 0.5-2.5. Borosilicate glass is characterized by the following chemical composition, wt.%: 53-62 SiO2; 11-18 B2O3; 8-12 Fe2O3; 9-14 Na2O; 0.5-3 CoO and 1-6 TiO2.
EFFECT: reduced density of foam material and increased degree of attenuation of electromagnetic radiation power due to additional scattering of electromagnetic waves due to multiple reflection at glass-air interfaces in pores.
