SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a Streptococcus thermophilus strain and use thereof. Disclosed is a Streptococcus thermophilus strain deposited in CNCM under identification number CNCM I-5448, suitable for use in producing a fermented milk food product for human consumption. Also disclosed is a composition containing said strain, a method for preparing a fermented milk food product using said strain, as well as use of said strain for fermentation of a milk food product.

EFFECT: invention ensures achievement of fermentation by the strain with considerable preservation of the level of sucrose in the ingredients, increased viscosity in the product, fast growth of the strain in milk.
