FIELD: nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques for generating a neutron radiation field when testing objects for radiation resistance in radiation fields of research nuclear reactors (RNR). Device is a neutron reflector made in the form of a lead box with dimensions of 100×100×100 cm, thickness of each wall 10 cm and one open side. Reflector is placed around the test volume of the RNR with its open side oriented to the RNR active zone.
EFFECT: increase in the size of the test volume up to 2.7 times, while providing a fluence distribution of neutrons with energy of more than 0.1 MeV with non-uniformity of not more than 30% over the area and volume of the test volume with simultaneous increase in the fluence of neutrons with energy of more than 0.1 MeV to 1.93 times and preservation of spectral-energy characteristics of neutron radiation.
