FIELD: performing operations.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surface treatment of parts from carbon steels in order to change microstructure of their working surface in order to improve various operational characteristics. Method of laser microstructuring of executing flat edge of parts made from carbon steel, in which declared are experimentally selected modes of thermal laser treatment and obtained formulas for calculating radiation energy density, processed surface local heating temperature and radiation coating area per unit time, conditions were created to control carbon migration from inner layers of carbon steel to executive edges.

EFFECT: improving operability of flat working surfaces of parts from carbon steel due to obtaining the required microstructure of surface layer without its destruction on actuating surfaces of parts.
