FIELD: oil industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the oil industry and can be used to determine the moisture content of the extracted product of the formation directly at wells. Disclosed is a method for determining moisture content of oil in fields, including sampling well products and complete separation of gas from oil at atmospheric pressure, after which the sample is divided into two parts, one of which is subjected to demulsification by centrifugation or heating with the addition of a demulsifier for separation into oil and water, then the separated formation water is poured into the calibrated cylindrical vessel and its level in the vessel is measured, after that, fresh water with density of 1,000 kg/m3 is poured into another cylindrical vessel of the same diameter and height, which is connected by its bottom to the bottom of the first vessel with a tube with a tap to shut it off, the water level in the second vessel exceeds the liquid level in the first one, and its level is measured, after which fresh water is bypassed from the second vessel to the first one and upon reaching the equilibrium of the columns of liquids in the communicating vessels, the valve of the tube is closed and the low level of fresh water in the second vessel is measured again, then density of formation water is calculated, after that density of anhydrous oil and water-oil emulsion is determined successively according to the specified scheme, then water cut of oil is calculated from the obtained data of densities.

EFFECT: simplification of labour intensity of determination of moisture content of well product and improvement of reliability, as well as reduction of errors in calculations of water cut.
