FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to fine chemical industry. In particular, methods for synthesis of 2-methylpyridine and diphenylamine from aniline are disclosed. Method for selective and continuous production of 2-methylpyridine and diphenylamine involves bringing aniline into contact with a catalyst in a hydrogen-containing atmosphere at 100–400 °C, where catalyst is Hβ-zeolite containing a component based on a metal selected from W, Mo, Ni and Co. By controlling reaction temperature from 100 °C to 240 °C product is obtained, mainly consisting of 2-methylpyridine, and by controlling the reaction contact temperature from 260 °C to 400 °C, a product is obtained, mainly consisting of diphenylamine.
EFFECT: invention enables easy and efficient transition between end products, the reaction takes place in mild conditions with high output of 2-methylpyridine.
