SUBSTANCE: aerosol-generating device for generating an aerosol from an aerosol-forming substrate. Aerosol-generating device may comprise a device body defining a chamber for receiving an aerosol-forming substrate; an air flow passage extending from the air inlet in the housing of the device through the chamber or in fluid communication with the chamber; and a puff sensor assembly comprising a heat transfer element and a temperature sensor in contact with the heat transfer element. First part of the air flow channel is at least partially formed by the wall of the air flow channel, and the second part of the air flow channel is at least partially formed by the heat transfer element, wherein the second part of the air flow channel is adjacent to the first part and is located outside the chamber. At least one of the heat conductivity and thermal diffusivity of the heat transfer element is greater than the corresponding thermal conductivity or thermal diffusivity of the wall of the air flow channel.
