SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the tobacco industry, namely to an aerosol generating system. The aerosol generating system contains a device case containing an electrical power source and an electric heater connected to the electrical power source. The system includes a consumable part containing a container for substrate having a blind cavity containing aerosol forming substrate in the form of gel, which is solid at a room temperature, wherein gel contains aerosol forming substance. The consumable part is made with the possibility of connecting to the device case or placing in it. The device case contains a device casing having a cavity for placing the consumable part, while the cavity has a diameter, which is essentially equal to a diameter of the consumable part or more than it. The electric heater is outer relatively to the container for substrate, and it is made with the possibility of heating the container for substrate without contact with aerosol forming substrate to generate vapor from aerosol forming substrate.

EFFECT: increase in the reliability of the aerosol generating system due to reduction in the risk of leakage or spillage of material for aerosol generating.
