During micro-arc oxidation of aluminium and its alloys performing process control by fixing voltage on treated article at a given moment in time, coefficient w calculation, defined as the ratio of the voltage change rate during the controlled process article micro-arc oxidation at a given moment in time to the micro-arc oxidation process voltage change rate without damaging the surface, by comparing the obtained value of the coefficient w with its critical value, which, in the absence of electrochemical corrosion of the surface, should not go beyond range of 0.9-1.0 in period of 1-15 minutes from the beginning of the micro-arc oxidation process, and in the absence of damage to the surface by arc discharges should not go beyond range of 1.0-1.1 in the time interval of 225-240 minutes from the beginning of the micro-arc oxidation process.

EFFECT: prevention of defective products occurrence, which reduces material consumption of micro-arc oxidation, reduction of unreasonable costs for electric power and increased energy efficiency of technological process.
