FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to chemistry of high-molecular compounds for biomedical purposes. Described are water-soluble copolymers of hydroxycinnamic acid and vinyl monomers with activity on influenza virus and herpes simplex virus of general formula: An – Bm, where: A and B are polymer links; A is a link of hydroxycinnamic acid; B is a vinyl comonomer link; n and m are content of A and B, mol. %, n=8-46, m=100-n, with molecular weight 103÷105, obtained by radical copolymerisation in a mass or organic solvent of coumarin with vinyl comonomers, followed by alkaline hydrolysis of coumarin links, where the residue of the vinyl comonomer is taken from: sodium styrene sulphonate, acrylic, methacrylic acid, acrylamide.
EFFECT: obtaining water-soluble copolymers which can be used as a base for preparing effective antiviral drugs.
