FIELD: seismic survey; non-explosive devices for generation of elastic waves. SUBSTANCE: source of seismic signals has housing accommodating piston and deflector of elastic waves with end face bevelled at an angle of 45 deg. Positioned oppositely to the bevelled surface of deflector is actuating piston with its upper end being connected with emitting plate. High pressure pulses are created by generator, for example by electrical discharge, inside changeable hollow head secured on upper end face of housing. Lower end face of housing is provided with spring connected with hollow piston end, upper end face of which is directed towards high pressure chamber. To enable change of radiator base, housing of source is made in the form of unified section and set of seriesly and rigidly connected sections forms unified base of required length. Cross-sectional dimension of source is reduced due to that electrodes are placed in liquid-filled chamber perpendicularly to longitudinal axis of source and that deflector is positioned in chamber at an angle of 45 deg to surface of actuating piston.
